…or maybe it’s Chester’s cousin. ROCK!
Decades plural ago, I voted REGULARLY. Like for everything. Why (aside from being a model citizen)? Because my polling place was the Latvian Center on Elston/Hamlin and they served pastries with their ballots.
There must be fondant in the foundation because the current tenants are just as sweet. The current tenants = PUPPETS WHO SERVE YOU ICE CREAM THROUGH A PORTHOLE. I cannot make this up. I wish I did! I wish I still parked on this block every night!
Every summer Saturday and Sunday from 3-8pm, The Sugar Hole, (don’t google it, just trust me….you won’t see soft serve pics), is offering up vanilla, chocolate or swirl ice milk soft serve with either rainbow or chocolate sprinkles.
The counter staff rotates but is never human, always patient puppet. They’ll take your cash or card right in their mouth and return with (not spitty) change. If you’d like a t-shirt, it will come to the counter via a googly-eyed walking glove.
Enjoy at the shaded sidewalk picnic tables and then go run off any sugar high at the revamped Independence Park.
The Sugar Hole gets all my votes.
