Build a Vampire Craft

As Halloween draws closer my kids start chatting about what they’d like to dress up as and this is the first year that a vampire has been mentioned so I figured it was time for me to introduce a little Dracula craft too!

I like to think that our vampire looks pretty friendly but he does have fangs and umm.. he looks like he’s possibly used them? To be honest that makes it more appealing to my kids though and I’m sure that they aren’t the only ones!

You can make this craft just as it’s shown in the image below or if you have a look through the instructions you’ll also see about folding your vampire’s cape so that he can hide behind it. Go with whichever version you prefer.

If you’re looking for something a little more basic for using as a coloring sheet or some easy art ideas then you might want to check out our vampire template too.

Craft Materials

  • Build a vampire craft PDF
  • White paper or cardstock
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Coloring pencils, markers or crayons

Cut and Paste Vampire Craft

Start by printing the PDF file out onto white cardstock or paper. As a rule, normal printer paper is absolutely fine for crafts like this however if your child is likely to want to play with their vampire or if you will be folding their cape in then I would probably go for cardstock instead to make it a bit more durable and to ensure that any marker ink doesn’t leak through the paper.

Color in all the separate parts of your vampire and then carefully cut them out using scissors.

Make your vampire’s body by gluing your vampire’s head onto the top of their waistcoat in the gray area there. Stick their trousers onto the back of the waistcoat and add the shoes and bow tie.

Glue the main part of your vampire’s body onto the middle of their cape and then glue on their arms.

If you’d like to make your vampire’s cloak so that it can fold around him then turn your vampire over and color in the back of the cape and the fold in the two sides so that he can hide behind it while he’s thinking up his dastardly plans!

More Cut and Paste Halloween Crafts

I’m a bit obsessed with cut and paste craft projects at the moment, I think they’re a really fun way to practice kids scissor and cutting skills without having to use traditional worksheets (which my kids always hated) and you get to make a fun craft from it. What’s not to love?

Over recent years I’ve shared lots of free Halloween printables for kids with loads of crafts and decorations that you can grab but these are some of my favorite cut out crafts that I’ve shared for spooky season.

Our build a witch printable is definitely more cute than scary and you can add her frog, cat and spider to ride on her broom with her.

Our ghost craft printable has loads of pages for you to download and use with different ghost  shapes, faces and even some fun accessories like candy corn, sunglasses and a witches hat.

  • Colored pencils, colored markers or crayons

Materials

  • Build a vampire craft PDF
  • White paper

Instructions

  • Print the PDF file onto white paper.

  • Color in all the separate parts of your vampire.

  • Following the dotted lines, cut out all of the separate parts.

  • Glue the vampire’s head and legs to it’s waistcoat and then stick on the bow tie and shoes.

  • Glue the vampire’s body onto the cape and stick down it’s arms.

  • If you’d like to be able to have your vampire hide behind it’s cape then color in the back of the cape and then fold it inwards so that it partially covers your vampire.

Notes

While this craft is absolutely fine to print on normal printer paper (it’s what I’ve used) you may want to choose cardstock instead if your child will want to play with their vampire in order for it to be a bit more durable or to ensure that the ink from marker pens doesn’t leak through.
