Blue Hydrangea in Shallow Bowl Arrangement

Blue Hydrangea in Shallow Bowl Arrangement

Hello friends. I hope you’ve been keeping well and you have been enjoying these carefree days of summer. Today my friends and I will be sharing some pretty summer flower projects. I decided to share this beautiful blue hydrangea in a shallow bowl arrangement.

I love how pretty and how readily available blue hydrangeas are during this time of year. Because of their size, it doesn’t take a lot of them to make a beautiful arrangement that makes a big impact. Even though one of the easiest ways to put an arrangement together in a shallow bowl is to use a foam oasis, I’ve been looking for other more environmentally friendly ways.

One of my favourite ways to make sure the flowers stay in place is by using the tape grid method. I’m sure you’ve heard of it before. You simply create a grid using clear or floral tape across the vessel. You can watch a short video of it HERE.

Another great way is to use chicken wire. This one is specially made for floral arrangements  It’s green and it has a coating over it that protects it from rusting. If you’re using chicken wire in a deeper vessel, you can use it on its own.

But if you’re using a shallower vessel, I find that a combination of moss and chicken wire act almost as a good as foam oasis.

I also secure it with a little tape. I didn’t have any floral tape but this one held pretty well.

Once the flowers are in, you won’t be able to see it.

I’ve also been using THESE little plastic frogs that work incredibly well. Here is a video of THEM.

You just use the little succion cups to attach to the bowl. They hold up so well.

That’s all I have for now but don’t forget to check out the beautiful flower projects from my friends below. Sending you so much love, Lucy
